Atelier 801 SARL (atelier: French for studio), is an independent game studio based in France and is best known for developing the popular browser game Transformice. It was founded on October 14, 2011 by Jean-Baptiste Le Marchand (Tigrounette) and Mélanie Christin (Melibellule) who serve as co-CEO's of the company.

Origin of name[]

Tigrounette and Melibellule were leaning towards "Mice Studio" when Ley suggested "Atelier 801", as a reference to the special room 801 which was originally created for testing purposes.[1] The admins liked the idea since it made a reference to the players, so they decided to choose that name.

List of employees[]

The company has a dozen full time employees, some of which have been around since the beginning, others which are recent additions. While still a fairly young company, it's already seen more than a handful of employees come and go, which helps their games get fresh perspectives.

The company originally started out with 2 people, the companies' current CEOs, Jean-Baptiste Le Marchand and Mélanie Christin, even before an actual company was formed. They would soon find they needed help managing the community and hired Sophie Duval to help, shortly after forming a company to manage the game.
